Martin wins englands strongest man U105kg

August the 12th 2007. After his win alongside Shawn Kenny in the UK Team event, Martin Jones goes on to win the title England / Wales strongest man U105kg.

Here is Martins brief write up on his victory:

Weighed in as earlier as i could.... very close 105kg exactly.

First event was 140kg Axle Squat for reps. I was drawn last place AGAIN which was good. I had to beat 12 reps so i did 13. That's was good as i never burnt myself out. Felt as i could do a lot more.. even with my skinny legs!

Second event was Max log... 15seconds each lift. Good this one as it was a cardio workout as well and you couldn't really make a mistake as you never had time to lift again. Paul Cator won this with 145kg lift.. and very easy it was. Second was Scott 140kg, and i was third with 140kg failed... these lads are very good pressers and i new i was never going to beat them... considering i had only just hit 140kg.

Third event was 300kg Yoke 16metres. Scott took the win with 9.5seconds and i had second with 11seconds ish. Little bit annoyed with myself as i dropped the yoke half way, i new i had to beat that time and went for it. Perhaps a little to quick.. i'm sure i would of had sub 8seconds if i never dropped it.

Fourth event was the Medley, 195kg duck walk - 100kg farmers and 300kg drag. John won followed by Scott then Paul Cator then Mike Betty and me and Anthony at the tail end. Messed this right up, my foot wear the big issue on this as i slipped all over the place on the drag. This messed everything up for the final event.

Last event Stones 110kg - 160kg. I won followed by Paul Cator then John, I think Mike Betty then Scott and Anthony who stopped half way through as he thought he tore his Bicep... i don't think he has but some thing is up with it. Hope he ok for the Britain.

Bloody close comp as me and Paul tied on 27 points each and it went my way on count back. Scott was third follow by John, Mike Betty and Anthony.

Unfortunantly Marvin Service pulled out half way through the Yoke as he dislodged his knee cap... didn't look to clever so off he went to the hospital. Hope he is ok.

Well done to Paul Cator and Scott for putting the crap up me. Really thought i messed it up after that medley. Try and get some decent training in now for the Brits in September, as i sure Paul and Scott will be on fire by then.
